Defense Establishment Legal Advisor

 

The Defense Establishment Legal Advisor is responsible for providing legal counsel to the Minister of Defense, Director General, and all the departments of the Ministry of Defense. The advisor reports directly to the Director General and is guided by Israel's Attorney General, while also collaborating with the  State Attorney and Ministry of Justice.

Legal Counsel:

The office provides legal counsel regarding all of the ministry's activities, including matters relating to public and civil law, public-administrative law and commercial-business law, international cooperation,  and international treaties.

Legislation:

The defense establishment legal adviser is responsible for promoting and supporting the enactment of legislation relating to the Defense Ministry, IDF, supporting units and defense industry activities.

Claims and Insurance:

The legal advisor manages all matters relating to tort claims and the issue of security of the Defense Ministry and the IDF. The office is primarily comprised of lawyers and legal advisors who provide counsel to the various sectors of the defense establishment. In addition to providing legal counsel, this team also represents the Ministry of Defense in various forums including Knesset and ministerial committees, and is responsible for formulating tender and contractual documents.
