Director General - Amir Eshel

 

AMIR ESHEL DG.jpg Amir Eshel was drafted into the IDF in 1977, and volunteered to join the pilots course. He served as the commander of Squadron 110 between 1991-1993 and as commander of Squadron 201 between the years 1993-1995. Eshel filled a number of leadership positions in the Israeli Air Force (IAF), including Head of the Operations Department, Commander of Ramon and Tel Nof airbases, Head of the IAF's Air Group, and IAF Chief of Staff.

 

In the year 2008 he was promoted to the rank of Major General, and appointed Head of the IDF's Planning Directorate (2008-2012). In the following years he served as Commander in Chief of the Israeli Air Force (2012-2017). In 2020 he was appointed Director General of the Israel Ministry of Defense.


 

Eshel holds a B.A. in finance from Auburn University and an M.A. in homeland security from Haifa University. He is also a graduate of the Israel National Defense College (the leading institution that trains Israel's leaders and members of the defense establishment).
